About JAW

Just Add Water (Development), ltd. is a UK Independant game developer. Formed in 2006 by career developer Stewart Gilray to concentrate on providing console development servies.

Since it’s inception in 2006 JAW has produced 40 titles for release for our partners, such as Sony, Oddworld, Bithell Games, Codemasters, Risingstar Games, Good Catch Games, Rebellion to name a small handful.

Our most recent successes include Micro Machines World Series (Xbox One/PS4) and Volume (PS4/VITA/PSVR), with a number of unannounced titles currently in development.

Lead Programmer
Skills Required:

Brief Description:

We have an exciting Lead Programmer position available, working within Unity3d on an unannounced 3D Platformer movie license.
Job Information:


  • You will be proficient in C#/C/C++, with a minimum of 4 years experience.
  • You will have worked within the games industry for a minimum of 3 years.
  • You will have worked on console titles for a minimum of 2 years.
  • You will have worked on at least one large game project.
  • You will have worked with Unity3d in a professional capacity.
  • You will have worked on a 3d Platformer title previously.

  • You will have good communication skills.

Experienced Environment Artists
Skills Required:

3DS Max/Maya, ZBrush/Mudbox, Photoshop
Job Information:

We are looking for talented Environment Artists to join our team to help develop a wealth of titles covering various genre’s.

You will be part of an environment artists team to visualise and create the levels and environments in our games. A successful applicant must demonstrate a flair for environment art and should be experienced at using a combination of tools available. Your main roles will include:

  • Creation of high poly assets for use in normal/AO baking.
  • Creating and exporting low poly assets for use in-engine.
  • Texturing in Photoshop.
  • Collaborating with our game designers to lay out levels in our editing tools and populate them with the assets you and others have created.
  • Unity Engine experience essential
  • Unreal Engine knowledge a bonus, but not essential.

We are working on well thought out concepts and design, as such you must demonstrate the ability to closely match existing concept artwork and style guides.

Experience in the gaming industry is essential, however we will consider any applicant if their portfolio is strong enough.

Similarly any previous industry work on an AAA title is a bonus, but not required.

Salary will be negotiated based on experience.

Character Atist
Skills Required:

As a Character Artist at JAW, you will work to create high quality characters for our projects. You will be able to create high quality models and high resolution textures. You will be self-motivated, proactive and able to demonstrate initiative.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Highly experienced and proficient with 3D Studio MAX and/or Maya, Zbrush and Photoshop.
  • Excellent 3D modeling, sculpting and texturing skills.
  • Good knowledge of character modeling, rigging and skinning for animation.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Passionate about games

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years experience in developing character models and textures or an outstanding portfolio.
  • Shipped at least one title credited as a Character Artist.
  • Knowledge of real-time shaders used for Characters.
  • Experience with Unity3D.
